2 Movers, 2 Hours & 2 Trucks unloaded – The Move Part Two

When Dennis and I arrived Monday night at the new house we pulled out two queen mattresses and laid them down on the front room floor and then called Pizza Hut for dinner. I think by 7:30 PM we were out cold.

The next morning we began getting ready for the movers as Mitzi and I had decided to hire some. I am soooo glad we did as we had no additional help. Dennis and I had thought ahead and decided we should do our best to unload the first truck and organize as much as possible all of the boxes by rooms on the first level of the house in different stacks. We did this as all of the bedrooms are on the second level and all of the storage we had planed to go in the basement. Our goal was to have the movers (two guys from Illinois) take the furniture into the house and place it in the respective rooms and then begin working on the boxes.

By noon on Tuesday Dennis and I had accomplished our goal and the movers had arrived. It was amazing – within two hours we had all the furniture in its place, all the boxes in their respective rooms and two very tired and hard working movers heading back to Illinois. WOW! Dennis and I quickly returned the two Penske trucks, when out to dinner and then I began unpacking as much as I could before Mitzi and the kids arrived.

The next day morning Lowes delivered our refrigerator and stove while AT&T was installing our satellite, phone and internet service. Around noon Mitzi and Louise (Mitzi’s mother) arrived with 3 very tired kids from a very early flight from Salt Lake.

Now with all of us here in Wisconsin, we’ve begun settling in our new home unpacking box after box after box. We are about 90% of the way done – but its that last 10% that is the hardest of deciding where we are going to hide I mean store this and that.

Of course the kids have had more fun playing with the boxes rather than unpacking them. Benjamin and Abby spent hours the first couple of days playing in them. Soo did Hailee!

So as Ty Pennington would say from ABC’s Extreme Make Over - Home Edition show: “Welcome Home Thompson Family, Welcome Home!”

Sounds like the 2nd part to your "move story" went much more smoothly! You guys are speedy unpackers. How are you liking the new job?

Glad that you have your home. Always nice to get the boxes there and look through them and be surprised what one finds. Children in them?! Now that is a nice surprise. Hope things are going smooth for you now.
